Gilt brass hilt, shell-guard with beaded border, featuring a circle (also beaded) in the centre and surrounding the crossed numbers and letters "GN" in italics, black background; straight quillons with bud-shaped ends; guard with high end culminating in a hunting horn; pommel shaped as a black-enameled (refreshed) Moor's head with gilt turban. Gilt brass grip of rectangular shape, checkered and surmounted in the centre, on both sides, with a shield with owner's numbers (a smoothbore shield). Leather scabbard with brass mounts.
