Information
oil on cardboard
42.5 x 44.5 cm
signed lower left: L. Buonajuti
on the back, charcoal and white chalk sketch with a study of sewing hands.
A still little-known artist but certainly deserving of rediscovery, Venetian artist Linda Buonajuti developed her own personal style between the 1910s and 1920s. While aware of contemporary trends, she always maintained her own unique imprint. Specializing in portraiture, she mastered it thanks to her excellent psychological rendering skills and her great expressive and plastic power. This work can be related to Sleep, from the diptych Sleep and Will, where the model depicted appears to be the same.
See G. Galassi, Linda Buonajuti, Vienna 1952.
