Specialist Notes
In May 1900, Vittorio Alinari announced a competition among Italian artists to illustrate a new edition of the "Commedia." Thirty-one artists participated, and their works were exhibited at the "Società di Belle Arti" in Florence from June 13 to 25, 1901. The jury included I. Del Lungo, A. Passaglia, F. Andreotti, G. Martinetti, A. Faldi, A. Lazzerini, and G. Biagi. The artists included Nomellini, De Carolis, La Bella, Kienerk, Lolli, Chini, Costetti, Galli, Magrini, Spadini, Fontana, Fattori, Cambellotti, Martini, Zardo, Balestrieri, and others.
