Specialist Notes
A charming and clear edition on specially made gloss paper, published in instalments. It reproduces Borghi's "Arguments" and Paolo Costa's "Notes," which appear at the end of each Canto. The text follows Lombardi's edition; and the printing corrections were entrusted to P.J. Fraticelli. The vignettes, which are partly copies of the well-known works of Flaxman, Pinelli, Ademollo, etc., were drawn and engraved by Fabris, Balestrieri, Elisa Mariani, GB Biscarra, and others. The volume containing the Inferno begins with a discourse by P. Fraticelli on the first and principal allegory of the Poem.
