Refined engraving depicting a putto, or Cupid, lying down and observed from an unusual aerial perspective. Frederick de Wit (1629–1706), a Dutch engraver, publisher, and cartographer, was also active in producing drawing manuals for artists, focusing on the study of anatomy and proportions inspired by ancient models. His works played a significant role in artistic education during the Dutch Golden Age.
