The bond between the Belgian artist Serge Vandercam (1924–2005) and the artistic ceramic tradition of Albisola profoundly marked the informal sculpture in the second half of the twentieth century. Among the protagonists of the famous avant-garde movement CoBrA, Vandercam chose the Ligurian town as his expressive laboratory mainly in the 1960s
