pencil and ink on thin cardboard
48 x 22 cm
Original comic strip made by Manara for "El Gaucho" on page 20 of the second comic resulting from the collaboration between Pratt and Manara, first published in the pages of the magazine Il Grifo in 1991. Often cited by Manara himself as his true master, Pratt sets his story in early 19th-century Argentina, narrating the miserable adventures of the poor, prostitutes, cripples, and slaves, all seeking their own impossible freedom, often destined for a sad end. Slight creases at the corners.
