GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Autobianchi A112, introduced in 1969 and widely marketed from 1970, was one of the most modern and influential small cars of its era. Developed within the Fiat group as the successor to the Bianchina, it represented a true revolution: compact on the outside but highly usable on the inside, with front-wheel drive and a rear hatchback, a solution still rare in those years. Its design, by Marcello Gandini for Bertone, gave it a simple yet distinclty modern line, anticipating the concept of the European "supermini." The initial engine was a 903 cc derived from the Fiat 850, lively and reliable, making the car agile and fun to drive in the city. Thanks to its practicality, low cost, and the sporty Abarth versions that arrived shortly thereafter, the A112 was a huge success: over the course of its long career, until 1986, over 1.2 million units were produced, becoming one of the most beloved and iconic small Italian cars of the post-war.
