Specialist Notes
With an original line, the Sprite Mk I (aka Frog Eye), launched in 1958, was a spartan little roadster. In 1961, for reasons of cost containment, the second series (Sprite Mk II) was presented, equipped with the same bodywork as the MG Midget (the mechanics were already common to the two models), with a less spartan set-up and front disc brakes. The car proposed in this lot has had an adventurous and unfortunate history; abandoned, is looking for a ransom! It is of USA origin. As a 1961 example, it still has the 948 cc "Frog Eye" engine. This is a car requiring a demanding restoration, but it is complete with the sole exception of the petrol instrument. So it is for the mechanics, the engine, complete, is blocked.
