Guabello, 386; Falqui, p. 42. Together in the lot: The Book of the Virgins. Rome, Sommaruga, 1884. In 8vo. First edition in an excellent copy. The Book of the Virgins is a collection of four stories ( The Virgins; Sentimental Fable; In the Absence of Lanciotto; To the Altar of God ). This is the poet's first literary experience in the field of narrative prose, after the poetry collections Primo vere (1879) and Canto novo (1881): Terra vergine (1882) was in fact a collection of sketches on Abruzzo themes.
