In "The Mirror of the Cross," the renowned fourteenth-century Dominican scholar points to a path of perfection modeled on the example of Christ, "the light and mirror of all perfection," who stands on the Cross "as a teacher in the chair." A classic of fourteenth-century religious literature, it inspired Catherine of Siena in her Dialogue.
