Questo ciclo di splendide vetrate (lotti 165 – 170) sono opera della ditta De Matteis, fondata da Ulisse de Matteis sul finire del secolo XIX e attiva a Firenze ed in Toscana nei primi anni del Novecento.

Provengono da un villino Liberty a Firenze, di proprietà di un importante medico chirurgo dell’epoca, che le commissionò appositamente per decorare il suo studio ed altri ambienti della sua dimora. In particolare le vetrate con Igea, Esculapio, Ars Medica e Chirurgia si trovavano nelle stanze adibite alle visite ed al ricevimento dei pazienti, mentre quelle con le nature morte ornavano la grande sala da pranzo.

Le vetrate sono dipinte in stile neo rinascimentale, con evidenti riferimenti alla pittura di Botticelli, Filippo Lippi, Domenico Ghirlandaio e alla tradizione quattro-cinquecentesca fiorentina, reinterpretata con un gusto decorativo tipico dell’inizio del Novecento.
