Information
Lettera autografa indirizzata al generale Efisio Cugia (1818-1872), allora Ministro della Guerra. [Milano?], 3 dicembre 1866. Due bifoli (mm. 202x145) vergati su tutte e otto le facciate, tranne una rimasta bianca, su carta recante lo stemma dei Savoia. Tracce di umidità, minimi restauri ed aloni nel margine inferiore.
Nella lettera, scritta due mesi dopo la pace di Vienna che aveva concluso la Terza Guerra d’Indipendenza, si accenna ad un possibile matrimonio dell’allora principe (che sarebbe divenuto re solo nel 1878) con una principessa estense. Umberto, all’oscuro di tutto, chiede all’amico generale e ministro di avere qualche informazione in merito. Questa progettata unione, tuttavia, non andò in porto e Umberto finirà per sposare la cugina Margherita di Savoia nell’aprile del 1868.
