Specialist Notes
First edition of a very rare comedy , found in anonymous manuscript, according to the letter of Benedetto Busini to Filippo Giunti, which precedes the text. It is believed to be the work of Busini himself, or, more properly attributed to Gelli. Set in Florence, it consists of a prologue and five acts. It follows the pattern of a love skirmish, with very licentious implications; curious is the fact that the beautiful Polifila, daughter of one of the protagonists, to whom the comedy is dedicated, does not appear among its characters. A fine example (some small stains, lower corner of the last blank f. restored).
