Specialist Notes
Claude-Charles de Peyssonel, French writer and diplomat (1727 - 1790) lived about 35 years of his life in the Ottoman Empire, and his works are full of observations and reflections dating back to that period. His rare treatise "Sur le commerce de la Mer Noir" contains detailed information on the geography, climate, and history of Crimea and describes in detail the products and trade between this area of the Black Sea and Russia.
