Information
An important and rare book, containing Braque's first original illustrations and a typical example of Kahnweiler's genius as an editor. Cubist books have become rare in the wake of recent scholarship that has elevated this short-lived experimental movement to a place of great importance in the history of modern art. These woodcuts are important examples of post-war Cubist graphic art and show Braque's relaxation from the rigorous discipline of form and color of the early Cubists. The book is particularly effective with Satie's music for the dance.
