Livorno, Stamperia dell'Enciclopedia, 1771. In 8°. A copy with beards, some foxing on the title page. Bound in half leather and marbled paper, title in gold within a red leather insert on the spine with five raised bands, minor defects. First edition.
Specialist Notes
Influential work by Pietro Verri (1728-1797), an Italian economist, administrator and philosopher, first published in Livorno in 1771, which had several editions in the first year and was translated into French, German, Dutch and, more recently, English. Adam Smith is known to have had a copy in his library.
