SPECTACULAR ROMANTIC BINDING IN GREEN CALFSKIN WITH DECORATIONS IN GOLD AND OTHER COLOURS ON THE BOARDS AND SPINE, gilded edges, slight defects on the caps. Noble ex libris on the frontispiece.
Specialist Notes
Contains poems from the Vita nuova, the Convito and other collections and the Divine Comedy. The work is in two volumes; on pages I-VII of the first volume is the "Life of Dante Alighieri written by Cavaliere Girolamo Tiraboschi". From 1820 Buttura took over the direction of the Biblioteca poetica italiana series published by Didot. His literary work is worthless, his poetry is mostly occasional. His ability as a translator is more valid.
