Specialist Notes
If Conti Rossini's interests in law and finance were connected with his professionalism as a civil servant, his studies of Ethiopian language and history, systematically conducted throughout his life, achieved fundamental results. In this sector he received the following recognitions: professor in charge of teaching the history and languages of Abyssinia at the University of Rome from 1920 (succeeding Guidi, who had left in 1919 due to age limits) until 1949; in 1914 corresponding member and in 1921 national member of the Accademia dei Lincei (then in 1939 member of the Accademia d'Italia, following the merger with this of the Accademia dei Lincei); in 1948 vice-president of the reconstituted Accademia dei Lincei; in 1947-1949 vice-president of the Italian Institute of Anthropology. He was a member of many Italian and foreign academies and scientific institutions.
This vast collection of documents testifies first of all to his passion as an orientalist, which transformed into an object of scientific study conducted at the highest levels. Ethiopia is at the center of these papers, which can and should become the object of specific study for those who want to further delve into the figure of Conti Rossini. All to be studied.
