Lyon, Former Palantinian workshop, 1592. In 8°. 2 vols. in one. Numerous figures engraved in wood, several of which are full page, a folded table at the end of the volume, light browning and light scattered foxing, contemporary parchment binding, title impressed in gold within a gusset and handwritten annotation on the spine, some small stains, binding partially detached from the body of the book. Vanishing signatures of membership on the title page.
Specialist Notes
Interesting military treatise organized as follows: in the first part it deals with recruits and recruitment, the second with the organization of the Legion and the ancient Roman armies, the third with field exercises, the fourth with attack and defense of fortresses, the fifth with camps. Steewech, who commented on this edition, was a professor at Pont A Mousson.
