Composed in Paris in 1768, the "Dialogues on the grain trade" were published by d'Epinay and Diderot in 1770. .]. Galiani Ferdinando (known as Abbot Galiani) (Chieti 1728 - Naples 1787): Economist and man of letters. Educated in Naples by his uncle Celestino, at 16 he wrote dissertations on political, economic and archaeological topics; at 23 the classic treatise "On Money" (1751; 2nd ed. with additions, 1780) in which a very clear theory of value is exposed, based on the utility and rarity of goods; of 1754 is the treatise On the perfect preservation of grain.
