Information
Rome, "Novissima" Publishing Company, [1932]. In 2nd. With numerous polychrome woodcuts, many of which are full page, with representations of the symbols of the districts and the various moments of the Palio drawn by Carlucci and Bagarone on Miliani Fabriano paper, full leather editorial binding with dry-stamped title and coat of arms with finishes in colored fabric on the front plate and representation of a lion, always embossed, on the back one, decorated glances, some abrasions, slightly darkened leather on the lower part of the back, small defect on the hinge. Complete with illustrated yellow cardboard editorial case, light halo, signs of wear.
Specialist Notes
In 1932 the prestigious Casa Editrice Novissima, directed by Edoardo De Fonseca, published a volume of the history of the Palio di Siena, with text by Piero Misciatelli and illustrations by Duilio Cambellotti, who had traveled to Siena in the previous two years to create the work , to attend the Palio. For each chapter dedicated to each district, the volume contains a full-page illustration and a header to decorate the text. Our example is number 76.
