Specialist Notes
"I present to you, kind readers, a collection of various songs composed by different authors on different gallant subjects; with no other purpose than to amuse you in the hours in which you are alone and idle, or when you long for not to feel, in the company of others, that tedium that you find in solitude. Since they seem graceful, clear and singable to me, I believed that they can generally produce the mentioned effect, better than long or majestic poems .(...)" - from the dedication to the Reader, p.7.
