Information
Venice, for Augustinum de Zannis de Portesio, 1510. In folio, 6 cc. nos. 106 cc. num., text framed by the commentary, woodcut initials with floral motifs, marginal redness in some pages, copious handwritten notes in the margin. Beautiful woodcut at the font (92 x 137 mm) depicting Ovid seated among four of his commentators taken from the Orazio edited by Donato Pincio in 1505, followed by another 23 cm. woodcuts in the text. 8 x 8 approx. eighteenth-century binding mz. leather, label with gilt title on spine.

The "Heroides", a collection of twenty-one epistles in verse on erotic subjects that the poet imagines written by eighteen heroines to their distant lovers and by three heroes to their women, in this edition are commented by Ubertino da Crescentino , poet, philologist and cleric (1405 - 1500) and by Antonio Volsco, of whom no biographical information is known, and printed by Agostino Zani, a typographer originally from Portese, active in Venice between 1508 and 1528.
