Specialist Notes
Interesting vernacular Latin vocabulary written by the Neapolitan grammarian Luigi Giovanni Scoppa. Of particular interest is the rich testimony that Scoppa offers of southern vernacular speech: in translating Latin terms, the grammarian often refers to Neapolitan dialectal forms and more generally to vernacular words widespread in the south.
