Specialist Notes
First promulgated in 1723 and republished in 1729, this work was issued by the king of Sardinia Vittorio Amedeo II and contained an organic body of his own laws and those of his predecessors. The work in 6 books represents one of the first examples in Italy of consolidation of law through the rationalization of pre-existing sources. In 1770 Charles Emmanuel III resumed this text, but by then it was considered "old" following the circulating ideas of the Enlightenment legal.
Example donated by the King, as can be read on the flyleaf "present du Roi 14 Aoust 1770".
