Collection of 42 gem casts preserved in an elegant wooden case covered in dry-decorated red morocco and in gold with large floral festoons to frame the plates, spine with latticework and leaves, interior covered in blue paper, legend of the works on the backplate, metal clasp, slight losses of colour.

Specialist Notes

Uncommon collection of gem casts by del Cavaliere Giovanni Pichler Considered the greatest exponent of the art of glyptics of the 18th century. His cameos, to which he entirely dedicated the last part of his life, were appreciated, sought after and commissioned by the powerful of the time. He portrayed the family of Emperor Joseph II of Habsburg-Lorraine as well as the elders of the Lombard nobility, as well as Popes, Cardinals and personalities of his time.
