Information
s.e., s.l., 1767. In 8°. Copy in beards, gore on the lower margin, slight reddening and scattered foxing, some small stains on the title page, beautiful binding from the 16th century. XIX in morocco, elegant gold friezes on the plates, small lack on the cap, few light scratches.
Specialist Notes
Very rare first edition in the Italian translation, probably printed in Milan, of the Commentaire sur le livre des délits et des peines par un avocat de province (1766) printed by Cramer in Geneva. Success was immediate and, as in the case of Crimes and Punishments, it was soon banned.
