Specialist Notes
Original edition of the rare work by Soldani (1736-1808), abbot of Camaldoli and scientist to be considered the founder of micropaleontology: in particular, he put to good use years of study and research on fossils from the area of Florence and Siena (S. Quirico, Sarteano , Città della Pieve, San Casciano, Volterra, S. Gimignano, Mugello, Casentino, etc.). His collection of fossils was donated and is still kept at the Accademia dei Fisiocratici in Siena, founded by Soldani himself.
