Series of twenty plates of Tasso's Gerusalemme Liberata, plus a frontispiece, made by Antonio Tempesta, etchings, measures 182 x 145 mm. Half parchment and cardboard binding from the 18th century. Edited by Francois Langlois, as stated on the title page: "F.L.D. Ciartres excudit."
Specialist Notes
The series of 20 illustrations, plus the title page, is numbered from I to XX and each has eight lines in Italian in the lower margin. On the title page of the series you can see the insignia of the Barberini family and in a cartouche you can read the dedication addressed by Antonio Tempesta to Prince Taddeo Barberini.
