Nin the letter to the readers preface to the work, he recommends the "very elegant translation into the Tuscan language made by Iacopo di Messer Poggio..." because "whoever reads it will draw great fruit from it, because with the knowledge of ancient things he will be able to more easily judge the modern ones".
