With two large folded plates, woodcut vignette on the title page, numerous woodcut illustrations in the text, 5 of which full-page, decorated woodcut headpieces and drop caps, some slight redness, coeval leather binding, author and title embossed in gold within green and red inserts on the back with 5 raised bands, back redone, minor defects.

First edition of the most famous work by Raffaele Fabretti (1618-1700) in which the antiquarian from Urbino offers a new interpretation of the meaning of the reliefs of Trajan's column.
