Information
Venice, 1651. In folio. 3 leaves including title page, dedication and frontispiece depicting the Lion of San Marco which dominates the island of  ;Crete, followed by 61 numbered chalcographic plates with plans, maps and views, 9 of which are double-page and folded and the remainder full-page, q some halo redness and blooms, half parchment binding of the century. XX.
Specialist Notes
Original edition, with the privilege impressed on the title page; there is no evidence of the existence of a previous edition datable to 1645, sometimes cited in the repertoires. The error is probably due to the fact that in that same 1645 - the year of the beginning of the siege of Candia by the Turks - Boschini had begun his activity as a cartographer by making a large map of the island of Crete in two sheets.
