Specialist Notes
Example in beards of the work of the Monuments of the Scipios. The archaeological area of the tomb of the Scipios is located along the urban section of the Via Appia Antica, just before the Porta S. Sebastiano. Its discovery dates back to 1614, but the real discovery dates back to 1780. It was the work of two brothers, the Sassi priests, during the works to enlarge the cellar of their house.
