Specialist Notes
Rare edition dedicated to the Emperor Charles of Habsburg, and compiled by Catarino, Politi. Polito was on the way to a career as a jurist but during a trip, he the reading of Savonarola's texts found in the library of his Florentine host, the 'weeper' Girolamo Benivieni, struck him to the point of determining, within a few months, his conversion. Just two years after his entry into the Order, in 1519 he received the important task of replying in writing to the young Martin Luther, publishing pro veritate catholic.
