Naples, Typography of Tasso then Royal Stamperia, 1839 - 1855. In 8th, 17 volumes for about 8000 pages in total. Uniform contemporary binding in half green morocco, spine with five compartments entirely decorated in gold with the title and friezes with floral motifs.
Specialist Notes
All the publications of this famous and important work, an irreplaceable source for the study of medieval history. the History of Italy in the Middle Ages was published in Naples from 1839 to 1855 in four volumes and sixteen volumes. The first three volumes (10 volumes) tell the story from the fall of the Empire to the death of Alboin; the fourth volume includes 5 volumes of the "Lombard diplomatic code" (a collection of documents relating to that period) and a volume of appendix to the code, in our copy divided into two parts.
