Specialist Notes
First edition of this interesting and famous work in which the qualities and miraculous powers of what we would now call a polypharmaceutical, panacea for all ills, are reviewed: the Theriaca. The impressive treatise describes the sixty components of the very ancient and complex antidote according to the ancient recipe of Andromachus the Elder, describing the peculiarities of each principle. The work of Bartolomeo Maranta (1500-1571), a distinguished naturalist trained in Cosimo de 'Medici's Giardino dei Semplici, was an important reference for all those who tried their hand at preparing the universal remedy par excellence with many therapeutic properties capable of fighting & nbsp; poisons, diseases and any unknown evil
