[Paris, 1733.] In 2nd. Title page on 2 sheets, dedicatory table, composed of 2 parts, to the King of France completely engraved, 16 double-page plates, 2 of which folded. Binding in Moroccan hazelnut of the time, to the plates embossed frame in gold with multiple threads and chains, to the internal border floral festoon, smooth back decorated with phytomorphic elements, green leather gusset with title, golden cuts, restorations and small defects.
Specialist Notes
Very interesting rare work for the study of the military organization in 18th century France. The front door is engraved by Cochin, the frames are by Ravenet; the views of Paris, Versailles, the Invalides, are drawn by Milcent and Rigault. The emblems are engraved by Lemau de La Jaisse.
