Specialist Notes
Zompini began the drawings of the tables under the direction of Antonio Maria Zanetti, in imitation of the Arts of Bologna by Annibale Carracci. Under each copper he inserted some verses of Dr. Questini Priest of Santa Maria Mater Domini, a friend of both. The first edition came out in 1753 in two phases, a first with 40 plates and a second with the addition of the other 20. The second edition was published posthumously in 1785 by John Strange, a British resident in Venice from 1773 to 1787, the which had acquired the branches of Le Arti from the Zanetti heirs.
