L'archivio si compone di 181 buste, scatole di cartone, cartelle, faldoni etc., contenenti - oltre ad appunti, manoscritti e materiali preparatori - bozze relative ad opere narrative e anche, in misura significativa, inediti di scritti teatrali e di testi giovanili, una ricca corrispondenza, recensioni, articoli, materiale sul cinema e sulla TV etc.
Il lotto include anche una vasta biblioteca di 10.000 volumi circa, proveniente dalla dimora di Tellaro, perlopiù edizioni di letteratura italiana, molte con dediche.
