Rome, Antonio De' Rossi, 1733. In 4°. 2 volumes. Engraved frieze on the title page, endpieces with a copper-engraved plate depicting the interior of the Holy House of Loreto. Halos and burnishing. Nineteenth-century parchment binding with spine featuring brown title and friezes, red spray edges. The first volume contains two copper-engraved portraits: one depicting the Madonna of Loreto and found on the frontispiece, the other depicting Clement XII and found on f. A1.
Specialist Notes
The most important historiographical work of its time dedicated to the Sanctuary of Loreto, illustrated with detailed plates, mostly double-page spreads. A third volume of the work was published two years later, in 1735.
