Information

Florence, Filippo Giunti, 1591. In 4°. Florentine lily on the title page and at the end, large woodcut with a crucifixion within a rich arabesque border on the verso of the eighth leaf, indented initials, friezes and headpieces, 19th-century half-parchment and cardboard binding. A perfect example.

Specialist Notes

Filippo Giunti had this work printed simultaneously in Florence and Venice, but they are two very different editions; the Venetian one contains only 137 leaves. The author's dedication is to Cardinal Michele Bonelli, dated January 1, 1591. Regarding the author, Lorenzini was a physicist from Montepulciano, but little is known. The work is a poetic composition in seven books in octaves, and at the beginning it contains unpublished poems by Lattanzio Benucci and Roberto Titi.
