Venice, Ex Typographia Petri Valvasensis, 1775. In-folio. 2 vols. Contemporary parchment binding, with smooth spine, gilt title on the spine; work in 2 volumes. Vignettes on the two title pages, headpieces, initials, and woodcut decorations. Light signs of use on the binding (some stains and abrasions, small tears at the edges, faded titles). The paper is fairly clean, but with foxing and some stains.

Specialist Notes

Second Venetian edition of the commentary on the Pandects edited by the Dutch jurist Johannes Voet (1647-1713; he taught law at the University of Utrecht from 1673 and at the University of Leiden from 1680, an exponent of the Dutch elegant school and of the line of legal analysis known as Usus modernus Pandectarum, his works had a great influence on the Italian, French and German doctrinal panorama).
