Copper-engraved title page, engraved initials, headpieces, and tailpieces depicting views of Brescia, with 16 large copper-engraved and folded plates engraved by F. Zucchi, some rare small stains, plate 1 placed between plates 15 and 16, contemporary half-leather binding with corners and marbled paper, gold decorations and title on the smooth spine, small defects on the spine, slight signs of wear.
Specialist Notes
First edition. A very lightly margined copy in excellent condition of this first edition, the most important dedicated to Brescia's municipal buildings, appreciated for its rich iconography. The folded plates depict views and plans of the famous Palazzo della Ragione, destroyed by fire in 1573 and subsequently rebuilt by Vanvitelli; both the original plan and the plan after the reconstruction are shown.
