Naples, Saverio Starita, 1835. In 8th. 177 pp. Only vol. I. Missing eye, slight halo at the first cards, scattered blooms and slight reddening, coeval binding in chagrin , friezes and author imprinted in gold on the smooth spine, slight defects.
Specialist Notes
Rare edition corrected, enlarged and only approved by the author. The edition underwent the intervention of the Bourbon censorship: of the 6 volumes provided by the bookseller Saverio Starita, only the Canti and the Operettas were printed. "My philosophy is displeased to the priests, who and here and throughout the world, under one name or another, can still and will eternally be able to do everything", wrote Leopardi to Sinner on 22 December 1836.
