Venice, for Bernardino Bindoni from Milan, 1540 on May 29th. In 2nd. Figured title page with title within woodblock border with portraits and allegorical elements, Bindoni brand in colphon, inhabited xylographic initials, worn frontispiece with restorations and tears on the outer margin, at c.A2 conservative restoration with loss of lines of text, traces of use and spots, green half leather binding and 20th century canvas. Ownership note on the frontispiece by Alberto Cattaneo, circa 19th century.

Beautiful and sophisticated figured Venetian edition, which reconstructs the history of the world from Genesis to the year 5169, or 1534 AD. Curious on paper 11 the list of monsters, androgynous, atlases, astronomers, Chelonophagi, Tanephii, Himatopodi, Hippopodes, Pygmies, Satyrs, Cyclops, Scyrite, Troglodytes etc. Detailed on papers 332-333 is the account of Columbus' expedition, entitled "De four great islands in India found again outside the circuit of the earth".
