S. d. t., 1799. (but Milan, 1819). In 16°, pp. XII - 82-(2); (2)-78-(1). Ancient full Dutch parchment binding, six-compartment spine with double gusset, title and friezes in gold, dry-engraved frame and large central "feuron" on plates, colored cuts.
Specialist Notes
Edition based on the very rare edition of Rome, by Antonio Blado Asolano, from 1545. Gamba, 1272: "A reprint of the six novellas has been made without a place note, 1799 (but Milan 1819) in - 8, edited by Mr. Scaldini, whose witty preface is... Bembo, Berni, Monsignor Della Casa held the compositions of this author in esteem, and Aretino sometimes subjected his own to the examination of Brevio". The sixth novella is the famous "Belfagor" which in 1549 was attributed to Niccolò Machiavelli. Brunet, I/1248: "Exact impression of the new features in the record of 1545, editor Giovita Scalvini under the name of Dionisio Pedagogo". EDITION OF ONLY 80 EXAMPLES.
