Specialist Notes
First editions of illustrated erotic works attributed to D'Hancarville, an art scholar active in Naples, where he devoted himself to analyzing the famous collection of antiquities of Ambassador William Hamilton (1730–1803). The engravings, focusing on erotic subjects related to the "spintrien" movement, were created by Denon.
