Specialist Notes

First edition of 350 signed and numbered copies. Our photobook is number 39.
Paolo Gasparini (Gorizia, 1934) is a Friulian-Venezuelan photographer among the protagonists of Latin American photography in the second half of the twentieth century. Trained in the Italian Neorealist movement, he began his career documenting postwar Italy. Having moved to Venezuela in 1954, he developed his research between architectural photography and urban reportage, investigating the transformations of Latin American cities and the continent's social and economic contradictions. His work is distinguished by the use of photobooks and photographic sequences as narrative tools, in which images interact with each other to construct complex meanings.
