Lyon, Iacopo Giunta, 1538. In 8°. Printer's device on the title page, decorated initials, some damp stains and a few restorations. Parchment binding, handwritten title and author on the spine, red spray edges. Owner's signature on the title page.

Specialist Notes

A rare edition of this important Latin translation of the Iliad and the Odyssey by the humanist Andreas Divus. In the preface, he describes a dream that inspired him to translate important Greek authors and promises to provide more texts by Aristophanes, Hesiod, and Theocritus.
